ACTion is a professional interest group of therapists committed to developing their knowledge and skills in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and related third-wave cognitive behavioural therapies. These include Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and more recent Contextual Schema Therapy approaches.
Established in May 2011, ACTion was created to foster a supportive local community where therapists can network, share knowledge, discuss clinical practice, and continue learning from one another.

The group provides an opportunity for ongoing professional development while encouraging collaboration and the exchange of evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Attendance at ACTion meetings meets Australian Psychological Society (APS) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.

The emphasis is on developing practical clinical skills, enhancing confidence in the application of third-wave cognitive behavioural therapies, and learning through discussion, observation, and experiential practice.

A focus of each session is also a reading and discussion text; for 2026 this will be: Bruyninx et. al. (2024) Practicing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with Head and Heart: Understanding the Why Behind Each Intervention (2024) amzn.asia/d/1tiLbtk
